Important Reminders Mentioned in Thursday's Staff Meeting

- Please Nominate one of our many deserving teachers to be our Teacher of the Year.  You may send nominations anonymously or email me.  The committee will meet Thursday afternoon.
- Recess should last 15 minutes.  If your students earn an extra recess as a reward, take them out at a different time.  Don't tag on the extra time.
- Group punishment is not permitted.  Group rewards that students must earn are encouraged!
- Be very aware of choking hazards and allowing students to have suckers during dismissal.
- If you have morning duty, you should clock in by 7:15.  On every other day, clock in time is 7:45.
- Students should be in class at 7:50.

Mrs. Watts is here and ready to learn with you. Over the next few weeks she'll be joining your classrooms to learn more about you and our students.  She's not coming by to critique you! Just keep doing your thing.

Tardy Students
The number of students arriving late is increasing. We are trying a new process in the office that will record every tardy, while also getting our students to class ASAP.  If students come in your room by 8:05ish, and they don't have a "yellow slip", please don't send them back to get one. We are taking names and making sure the tardy is recorded in PS, but we are not going to make the students even later by making them wait on a slip of paper. If they come in after 8:05, we will give them a "yellow slip".  Any deviations from this plan will be announced during morning announcements.

Directions for Thursday Morning
Everyone should wear Red, White, and/or Blue.  This is the best day to wear all of your patriotic gear.

Students will line the "horse shoe" in front of the school.  Please keep them spread out so they are no more than 2 or 3 deep.  Bamberg, Shorter and Jones will stand with their backs to the track/parking lot. (I'll have a cone to designate where you should start) Pennington and Summers will stand beside them around the curve and in front of the office windows

First grade will stand beside Kindergarten.  Second grade should be able to fit between First grade and the concrete walk.

Third grade, will be to the right side of the center walk. Fourth grade will fit to the right of Third grade.  Fifth grade will be in front of the gym and at the front of the parade route.  We'll have a cone there to set the starting spot.  SHINE will be in the center on the front steps.

The Center concrete sidewalk will be clear and split second and third grade.

Everyone should be in place no later than 9:15
Please distribute flags AFTER you get outside and take them up BEFORE you go back in.
NO Parents or guest are allowed on the Cahaba side of the street unless they have a visitors tag.  Students cannot cross the street to mingle with the crowd.
When exiting and entering the building, DO NOT use the historic front doors. The gate by the gym will be open.
