If you have the good fortune of not needing the sub you secured through Ready Sub, please send me or Barbara a text/message before you cancel them!  We can probably use them somewhere else.

This week, I will go over some important reminders for the students concerning Track Safety. I also want each of you to program Officer Antonio's number into your cell phones.  If you are ever concerned about a "stranger" on the other side of the fence or see anyone in the parking lot, please call him.  205-305-8717. If anyone tries to speak to one of our students, call Officer Antonio.

Students should stay on the asphalt track or in the middle of the track. This means stay away from the corners and the fencing.

Beth Anne Marshall's shoulder surgery went well. We hope she is back with us on the 7th.  Jenni Peter's little boy was born late last week.
They named him Hudson Burgess.

Updated Lunch Schedules are in the Teacher Resources Drive or You can click HERE   Please make sure to check your time, line and door number, and table number.  Also check to see if you are eating in the cafeteria or in your classroom.

Welcome Ms Autumn to Cahaba.  She is a contract employee working with Mrs. Searcy 8:00-11:00.

Any updates on Valentine's Parties?
We will follow the same plan we used for Christmas parties.  All parties will be February 14th.  Each grade level should chose a time and communicate that time with Nancy.

Will the upper grades be taking Performance Series Test?
The Leadership Team decided to say "no" to Performance Series.

What is Cahaba's plan for School Board Appreciation and Random Acts of Kindness?
For Board Appreciation, Cahaba has a "thank you" banner and also a boxed gift for each Board Member and Dr. Neill.  In the box are treats associated with "growing", a book, original poem by Fortenberry, and a card telling each Board Member that we will be raising funds for a charity of their choice during our Random Acts of Kindness Campaign, February 7-18.

Kindergarten - Honoring Mark Sims - Trussville Fire Department
First Grade- Dr. Ward - Trussville Library (I think)
Second Grade - Mrs. Brown - Trussville City Schools Foundation
Third Grade - Mrs. DeShazo - Pathways Professional Counseling (fostering and adoption)
Fourth Grade - Mrs. Tolbert - YWCA of Birmingham
Fifth Grade - Dr. Neill - Trussville Police Department

Our ONE WORD graphic is beautiful and inspiring.  I encourage you to place a reminder of your One Word in the places you frequent the most.

I absolutely regret the frequency that I have been forced to cancel your Specials.  However, with the current situation I think we better not schedule conferences and IEP meetings during your Specials time.  If you have no choice, or there is already one on the calendar for this week, please remind me the day before so I can make a plan.  Hopefully this mindset will be gone in the next 2 weeks.

Follow up information from Thursday's staff meeting (1/6)

We identified skills that we would like our students to possess before leaving Cahaba

One way to teach, encourage, and build most of these skills is through systematic goal setting. Below you'll find links to the articles and videos referenced:

- Principal will send a video to push out to parents explaining our emphasis
- STEM, Art, Library and Counseling will support teaching how to write S.M.A.R.T. goals
- Students will use their Data NB's to record and track their goals
-Classroom posters provided
- Data NB's will be sent home once a month.
- Students will be celebrated with a class Flip Grid that will be sent to parents

If you have articles or resources that you'd like for me to share with the staff, please send them!

Wednesday - All grades should be entered for 3-5 progress reports
Friday: 3-5 Progress Reports go home

Welcome to our student interns from Samford!  We have Audrey Brooks (Mills), Catherine Cowden (Wilkerson) and Abigail Jones (Wessel)

I checked all the math AIMS scores Jan. 3, for Wall of Fame purposes.  If someone in your class took it after that date and you think they are 90%.  Please let me know.

You were emailed the newest COVID guidelines for employees last week.  Here's a link to the google doc too.     COVID Employee guidelines

This is a friendly reminder to keep Schoology in your toolkit.  Not only for COVID absences, but possible weather events.  Students should all know how to access Schoology and all of you should be loading an assignment for them students once every week or two.  Things unpracticed are forgotten!

Please make sure your schedules are updated in the Teachers Resources Drive.  Choose the folder named "Upload Teacher Schedules Here" and then choose the correct grade level folder.  These schedules should also be posted outside your door.  In addition, we talked about uploading your current behavior management plan for your classroom. You'll find a folder named "Behavior Management Plans" in the Teachers Drive too. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Please remember Jenni Peters and her family.  Her father has battled colon cancer for a while and they were recently told it has spread to his liver.  The family was told he has a very limited amount of time to live. Jenni's baby boy is also scheduled to come early!

Also remember Sabrina Johnson's brother, Ryan.  He was admitted to ICU Friday.  He is stable, but in critical condition.

As we continue to pursue goal setting as our emphasis over the next several weeks, also give some thought to your ONE WORD for 2022. We'll be sharing these soon.
