Please make sure your class understands our School-Wide signal (the time out sign) and what it means.  I think it's great that several of you have other signals (hushing husky is one) that are used in your classroom, but it cannot compete or confuse students on our School-Wide signal.  Thanks for your help with this.

SOME SAFETY REMINDERS
Students should never go outside the school without an adult.  This includes sending students to retrieve things left at recess.  The front of our school is a city street!

If you are on the track and see a community member ignore the signage and enter the track area, call the office immediately and report.

The Collaboration Room has student information  displayed on the walls, therefore the door will stay locked.  If you need access to the Collaboration Room, please let Nancy know and she can give you a key.

Image result for help us out
It really helps all of us if you will reach out to me through email or text concerning discipline problems.  Please refrain from bringing students unannounced to the office.  Of course, this does NOT apply to emergency/volatile situations.  If you need immediate help, you should use your intercom to call Nancy.  Someone will come to your room immediately.

Our Affirmation Challenge this week is to write two notes.  One will go to a student and another to a staff member that you've noticed thinking of others before themselves.  This challenge was inspired by two of our Kindergarten teachers spending their planning time Friday helping second grade teachers move. What a selfless thing to do!

Monday morning, our second graders will celebrating the opening of the new wing and their new classrooms.  After announcements, we will have a ribbon cutting and brief celebration with the 2nd graders, their teachers and guest from the BOE.  This will be the first time the kids will see their new classrooms. We all appreciate everyone's support and help as we continue to transition into our new spaces.

Don't forget to add your room mom's names to the google doc entitled Valentine's Party Sign-Up.  Adding their name to this list will take the place of visitor's forms for the parties.

Don't forget the MUSH grant opportunity.

Thank you just isn't nearly enough to express my gratitude to the ladies who have continued to teach and then spend their personal time moving their classrooms. I pray God will shine his favor on everything you do in those new rooms.  You have been troopers!  Marshall, Dickerson, Odom, Cates and Johnson moved Friday and through the weekend.  This week we should complete moves for Philpot and Meredith.  Friday, Windham will move and next week Pennington and Osburn will relocate. If you have a chance to offer any extra bit of encouragement to any of these, please do!

We are getting close to Awards Week
Some reminders about invites to these events.

The Kindergarten and First Grade Programs - All Parents are Invited

Image result for awards dayThe Second and Third grade Awards will be done together - We will only invite the parents of the students receiving awards and we won't tell them what award their child is receiving.

Fourth grade will also be invitation only.

The Fifth grade program is for ALL parents -  The Fifth Graders will perform

It is expected that K-3 will also have some sort of classroom awards given - It's up to you if you want to invite parents or not.  It can be as simple or big as you want it to be. During the School program I will remind the students that more awards/recognitions will be given in their classroom.

Some thoughts from teacher/blogger Linda Kardamis..............
How to Finish the School Year Strong

1.  Don't coast; instead, be more intentional.  Don't allow your self to go on autopilot.  Instead, choose to make these last days count.  Set one or two end-of-the -year goals and make it a priority to do all you can to influence your students during these last few days.

2.  Keep first things first.  When you're overwhelmed and there are a million things to do, remember to keep first thing first.  Focus on what really matters and realize that the rest will get done eventually.

3.  Decide to enjoy these last days. Instead of counting every moment till you're done, choose to enjoy these last days you have with this group of students. This one mental decision will impact everything else you do.

"This time, right now at the end of the year.  This time can be the most valuable. While they may be driving you up a wall, you are likely more able to speak into their lives now than you ever were before. I promise the summer will be here soon. But until then, don't phone it in. Don't coast. Don't go through the motions. You only have a few more days to impact your students.  Don't waste that time!"
