The Specialist Sub for Tuesday and Wednesday will come to your classroom. We are using some of the Specialist classrooms for testing and this will limit movement in the halls.

REPORT immediately anything that doesn't go as planned.  This could be the test day, before, during or after testing. It could be the Test Administrator, the proctor, the students or a technology issue.

Please continue to remind your students to leave their Smartwatches and phones at home Tuesday and Wednesday.

Monday - Make sure every student has headphones.  NO  Bluetooth. If you don't have headphones for a student, check out a loaner pair Monday-  No one should worry about headphones Tuesday morning.

Double check testing for all 504, ELL and IEP students. If a student who typically gets accommodations for testing is not on a small group list, please ask about them.  Monday is the day to check.

If you haven't filled out this form to confirm your technology checks, please do that now.  This is our verification that all devices were checked, twice.  Testing Tech Check - Verification

Last Week of the Shamrock Hunt!  Good Luck!

Please considering nominating a 3rd, 4th or 5th grade teacher as our Team Member of the Month! Our last honorees in this group were Misty Moore and Tara Vincent.

We are adding a day to our typical prayer group time.  This week, we will meet Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, 7:20-7:40 to pray specifically for all the stresses associated with ACAP.  We'll meet in the conference room by the historic entrance.

It's not too late to make an impact on Cahaba's ACAP scores. Make this week count!  Small group and individual work make a big difference.  Take another look at all the resources.  Have you adjusted your instruction to the Test Blueprint?  Have you utilized the sample items? #noregrets

I apologize for the late notice on the Coin War!  It has been on the calendar, but with no details. I was told that the PTO was putting information in your boxes towards the end of last week, but they did not! I put information on Social Media Sunday.  We'll see how this goes. It is a cute idea. 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Great News! We will complete AIMSWeb testing for our T3 students April 20!  This opportunity to get information earlier is very helpful! Thank you Mrs. Rosetta!

Please talk to your students about these expectations and hold them accountable. I will also review during announcements this week

1.If a student is going to breakfast, they  DO NOT go to their classroom or the library first. They should take their backpack with them to breakfast. They may not go to the restroom without permission from a teacher.

2. During dismissal, students go directly out of the building.  No stops at the restroom.

3. Hats are not permitted inside the building UNLESS a student has earned that as a reward.  I will ask!

Our Kindergarten and First Grade Book Character Parade will be Monday morning.

K and 1
Be ready to start the parade at 8:20.  Line up in the hallway, headed towards the office.  Shorter will lead the parade and all Kindergarten classes should line up behind Mrs. Shorter. First grade, please come in the door by the art room and line up behind Kindergarten.  Everyone should be lined up on the front hall.  Make sure you have your banner in the front of your class.
Parade Route
We will exit the doors by the office and  go IN the doors beside the dumpsters (Fifth Grade).  All the way down that hallway and OUT the doors by the first grade classrooms.  We'll turn right and head towards the gym and out the gate.  The street will be closed, so we can walk down the center of the street in front of the school and back inside the office doors.  THEN, we'll take one  more lap, exiting the doors by the Art Rooms and back down the street and then inside the doors by the office.

Assigned places for students
Everyone should be able to line the halls outside your classroom.  Please feel free to spread out.
Fifth grade:  As soon as the parade has passed you by, you are free to get ready for PE.  PE will be on the track, so you can leave the doors by the dumpster and meet Coach Garrett in the carline.

Prickett - live streaming
Smith - taking pictures
Fortenberry - running music from the front porch
Let me know if you have questions!

PE on the Track Monday -please follow directions to avoid interruptions to parade watchers, James Spann and ACAP Alternate Testing

5th Grade - exit 5th grade doors and meet in the carline area
2nd Grade - exit 5th grade doors and meet in the carline area
1st grade - exit the doors by Patterson/Bridges and meet in front of the porch
4th grade - Exit the 5th grade doors and meet in the carline area
Shorter/Bamberg/Jones - Exit Office doors and meet in the carline area
3rd Grade and Pennington/Summers - Exit Porch doors and meet on the Porch

The Great Shamrock Hunt is BACK!  March 6-24 Shamrocks will be hidden throughout the building with varying number of copies written on the back.  You may turn in 3 a week to Barbara and the combined amount will be added to your copy number. EX: You find a 50, 100 and 75. Then, you spy one for 500!  Take it and re-hide one of your others for someone else to have fun finding.  HINT...  You probably want to wait until late in the week to turn in your Shamrocks to Barbara. Happy Hunting!

Notes from the Leadership Team

Are we using the Science Kits/Bins?  The general consensus was "Yes"! But, we also need some training.  No one hired after 2018-2019 has been trained.  I will look into that for next year.

Share with me your thoughts about peer observations.  We want the opportunity to observe in the grade level above and the level below to help us with vertical alignment.  The team asked that we have a plan in place and ready to go for next year.  The goal would be to implement before Christmas.

I introduced an idea for a new award for our Fifth Graders and the Team approved.  It will be a "Cahaba Legacy Builder" award that the staff will vote on.  The student's picture and Bio will be displayed in the office for a year!  Stay tuned for more info!

We really need a common day for Collaboration.  It's hard to plan our own grade level planning or conferences.  Yes!  I agree and I will make that a priority for next year.  We will also plan for one designated Thursday a month for Team Planning.

Input needed..........

We will have more control over our Chromebooks and their usage next school year.  The team is considering different ways to manage repairs.  Please share your thoughts with your team representative
