Our Affirmation Challenge this week is to write two notes.  One will go to a student and another to a staff member that you've noticed thinking of others before themselves.  This challenge was inspired by two of our Kindergarten teachers spending their planning time Friday helping second grade teachers move. What a selfless thing to do!

Monday morning, our second graders will celebrating the opening of the new wing and their new classrooms.  After announcements, we will have a ribbon cutting and brief celebration with the 2nd graders, their teachers and guest from the BOE.  This will be the first time the kids will see their new classrooms. We all appreciate everyone's support and help as we continue to transition into our new spaces. 

There's still time to nominate for Team Member of the Month - Choose a K, 1 or 2 teacher. 










Our Teacher's Advisory Council will meet Wednesday afternoon.  If you have any questions for them, you can send them directly to Prickett, Gudgen, Marshall, Shannon, Ford or Mince.  Or, you can ask anonymously by putting your question in their mailbox, designated with a red dot.













Don't forget to add your room mom's names to the google doc entitled Valentine's Party Sign-Up.  Adding their name to this list will take the place of visitor's forms for the parties. 

Erica Hankin's last day with us will be Friday.  Please let her know how much we all appreciate her willingness to join our tribe and help our children in Rachel's absence.

Thank you just isn't nearly enough to express my gratitude to the ladies who have continued to teach and then spend their personal time moving their classrooms. I pray God will shine his favor on everything you do in those new rooms.  You have been troopers!  Marshall, Dickerson, Odom, Cates and Johnson moved Friday and through the weekend.  This week we should complete moves for Philpot and Meredith.  Friday, Windham will move and next week Pennington and Osburn will relocate. If you have a chance to offer any extra bit of encouragement to any of these, please do!

Really, this is serious.....................
Students cannot be left unsupervised. Only in emergency situations should you ever ask your neighbor teacher to watch your class.   Before stepping out of you room, think.... 

1. Can this wait until Specials/PE, lunch or after school?  
2. Can I ask my question through email?  
3. If this worth disrupting instruction in my room and my partners? 

PALS Academy: Camp Literacy was a huge hit.  

It was our best PALS Academy yet.  I appreciate those of you who stayed on that rainy night to make this so special.  Please join me in thanking Jenni Peters and Rosetta for their planning and support. #yourock

Take a few minutes to review your PE and Specials schedule.  Make sure you are picking up and dropping off your students at the correct time.  I asked the Specialist to reach out to you individually if they feel you have the wrong time in mind.  It seems that we aren't all following the same schedule

Your students should be updating their Data Notebooks with new STAR and Performance Data.  Everyone should take their Data Notebooks home for parents to see sometime during January.  Our Open House is scheduled for February 28th.  This will be another great opportunity for students to show their data notebooks to their parents.

January 23rd is the official 100th Day of School.  K-2 will be dressing up as 100 year old citizens and doing math activities based on 100. 






The STAR/EL window closes Tuesday!  We start taking Reading Performance Series Wednesday.  Please talk to your kiddos about the goals they set in August before testing.
