During our Zoom meetings this week we will discuss our plan for
students who are not completing work.  List below are some steps that
Rachel and I have been using when we talk to you.  They are not a
"written in stone" checklist, but a guide to help us document
and help you. We know that every situation is
unique and comes with is own set of challenges.

1. email the parent and call - give this at least 4 or 5 days.

2. Start calling every day - give this 3 or 4 days - Email Rachel

3. Call, email or leave messages telling the parent that you really want to help.  Offer to alter the work load, change assignments, help with internet issues.  During this time we really need to determine why they child is not doing the work.- Rachel will involve me at this point, but you are welcome to reach out too. We can brainstorm ideas together.

4.  Based on what information you received in #3, we will make a plan to help.  That plan may include reducing work load, changing assignments, a standing Zoom or phone conversation with the student 1-2 times a week, a phone call and support from April Smith, and possible a packet instead of online learning.

5. If all of this fails or doesn't sustain after it's set up.  I will call the parent and talk to them about the importance of "evidence of learning". I'll go over all the options presented in #3 and #4 and see if they need a home visit. ( they really don't want this)

6.We will continue to try, but we'll turn over all of our documentation to the Board.

** IMPORTANT INFO!
We will send out report cards via mail on May 22.  However, students who need extra time will have up to 2 additional weeks.  Keep that in mind when you are making decisions. I feel certain all of our students want to be finished by May 22, but we do have that extra time to "catch up".

Squad Up: How to Stay in Touch Over Break | Her Campus      Staying in contact with our students is paramount during these unprecedented times. Please make sure that your kiddos are receiving individual time with you, as well as interaction through google classroom.  Every child should get a phone call, a face time, individual dialog with you or a Zoom a minimum of twice during the 7 weeks
of remote learning.  If you have a student who
is not turning in at least 75% of their work please email them, call them and let Rachel know.

I always enjoy hearing you share
Good Things in our staff meetings and
we've been able to continue that through our Zoom meetings. Here are some of the highlights from the question last Monday:  What positive things have you seen or experienced due to Classroom to Cloud learning?

-  I have learned so many new technology skills.  I can set up a google classroom and manage google docs
- Almost every single parent has been appreciative, patient and positive.
- I appreciate my team. (this was voiced by every grade level)  We work together and use each other's strengths.
- Zooming with individual parents and their children has been gratifying.
-  More Dads are involved with their children's education.  We've spoken to Dads that we have never talked to before.
- Every week we give our students a choice:  phone call, Face Time or Zoom - They have to chose one!

And, the next question: What can we do to support you better?
Where do you need help?

- We appreciate the help that we've been given with our special education students who have needed more of everything.  They
have been the only parents with
                             overbearing needs.

- For every negative that this has created there is an
equal or greater positive.
