Morning Announcements and Pledges

Announcements start every morning at 8:00. PLEASE have your class seated and ready to listen and participate in the pledges. This is a Cahaba Non-Negotiable!  Students caught in the hall because they are late should stop where they are for the pledge and the Star Spangled Banner. Please model this behavior!  If this is new for your students, please make this the topic of a Morning Meeting this week.

Guest Form

Beginning Tuesday, September 5 we will allow guests in the building. You will find the Guest Approval Form in the Drive in the FORMS folder. Please make sure it is filled out completely and get it to me no later than a week before the visit.

Husky Paws and the Prize Patrol

Husky Paws are in your boxes!
Husky Paws will be used to reinforce positive behavior. This year, we will have a specific emphasis for each week or maybe two weeks.  I would prefer to get those from you.  You can use this link Ideas for earning Husky Paws to record your ideas.   This week I'd like for you to reward students who are using their time wisely.  That can be before school or in the classroom.  Let's also reward cafeteria behavior.  Please share your ideas!  Students should write their name on the back of the Husky Paw and put it in a container in your room. Friday you will draw out one winner and turn that name in the Cissie.  The Husky Prize Patrol will come around to all classrooms Friday afternoon between 2:15 - 2:45.

Team Member of the Month
Monday is the last day to nominate a Kindergarten, First or Second Grade Teacher for Team Member of the Month!  Email me your nominations!

Family News
Please keep Lindsey Faucher in your prayers.  Her grandmother passed away last week.

Educational Information - Contacts
Your email distribution list is for custodial parents only. Please don't add grandparents and step parents!  Your closed FB pages are for parents too!  You may add other people at the written/emailed request of the parent.  We need to be really careful.  People aren't always on the "up and up". Please finish your Educational Information Form by Friday!

Prayer Group
Our Cahaba Prayer Group will start back this week.  We meet on Wednesday mornings in the conference room by the historical entrance. We try to start around 7:20, but people frequently jump in later. You can come every week or every once in a while.

Classroom Contracts  Every Homeroom should some sort of classroom contract hanging in your room. There are many variations for this concept and we're pretty flexible on what you decide to use.  Key Components: 1. Student and Teacher Created, 2. Student and Teacher signed, 3, Displayed in your room. 4. Re-visited often. 5 Shared in your Newsletter    We'll come around and see these beginning September 5

Red Sub Folder - You don't have to start all over! Sometime Monday, Barbara will put your old sub folder in your box.  Please have yours updated and back in the office by September 8.

Before you can release ANY information to anyone other than the child's parent, we must have a signed TCS Bilateral FERRPA-HIPPA Release Form (old 3rd party form).  You'll find this new form in the drive. Once these are signed, please give me a copy.  We can also use this form to request information from people providing outside services to our students.

Everyone in the building should be on our REMIND.  This will be our primary way of communicating during or after a crisis situation.  We will use this app during our drills.

Please make sure the window on your classroom door is uncovered.

Post Fire and Tornado Evacuation Routes in your classroom

Please talk to your students this week about hiding in your classroom.  Make sure they know where to go and what to do.

Make sure you are parking in a designated parking place. We shouldn't be creating our own!

Currently enrolled - 536
Largest Class - Tied - First and Fourth Grade both have 97 students
Smallest Class - Kindergarten with 79

If you have a student, particularly a 3-5 student, who is not following our dress code, please send Mrs. McIntosh an email and she'll follow up.  You should do this no later than 8:15. That will give us time to address the infraction before her classes start. You are not responsible for addressing dress-code violations yourself. Let us do this in a private setting.

Meetings with parents are held in the conference room in the office.  You may "book" the room by writing your name and time in the calendar in the office.  If there's a conflict with that room, you may book the conference room beside the historic entrance.  There's a calendar for that too!  Our Collaboration room is reserved for meetings with each other. We will have student data displayed in this room.  Please do not invite parents to your classroom during the school day.

Handbook Review

Thank you for all your preparation and planning.  Last week we enjoyed one of our best starts to a school year. This week will be tougher and more exhausting for you.  Take care of yourself!
