Whistles!
Everyone should wear an EMERGENCY whistle on your lanyard.  If you didn't get one, please let Barbara know and she'll take care of you.  These whistles should not be used for anything but an emergency.  Use your whistle If you see an  adversarial person inside our building,  see someone with a weapon, hear gunfire, or hear someone else blowing a whistle. If you hear a whistle, go into "lock down" immediately.  I can address any questions in our staff meeting Thursday.

End of the Year Reminders
1. If a student leaves your room on the way to the nurse, the bathroom, or an errand for you, they must have a buddy.  If you have students come to your room at a certain time routinely, you must check on them if they don't show up.
2. Morning Meetings are still expected.
3. Our Hot Spots for bad choices............  lunch, recess and PE! This would be a great topic for Morning Meetings.
4. Review SMART goals

The GRACE Group is out of money!  If you forgot to donate earlier in the year, it's not too late!  If you would like to donate a little extra, we'll take that too.  You may write a check, give cash or Venmo Stephanie Young or Kylie Collins.

Lunchroom Staff Appreciation Reminder!

We are excited to celebrate our amazing lunchroom staff next week. Please work together as a grade level to create a poster to show our appreciation. You can give your finished poster to Kylie Collins or Stephanie Young. Grace Group will hang them up after school on Thursday, May 4th and deliver a treat on Friday, May 5th😊 Thank you for helping us show some love to these amazing ladies who give so much to our students and staff every day!

Team Member of the Month
Please nominate a Specialist or Exceptional Ed teacher to be our Team Member of the Month.  Our most recent honorees in the group were Tina Fortenberry and Amy Prickett.  I hope to Announce Friday!

Please get to work on completing Math AIMSWeb.  I'd like to have this finished by May 3. I know several grade levels have worked out a way to work together to get this accomplished.  Work your magic!

End of Year Discipline
I appreciate everything you all are doing to encourage our students to make good choices. To continue to promote our expectations, I'd like for you to consider having some sort of Class reward every Friday.  This can be a cheap popsicle, board games from 2:00-3:00, eat lunch outside, a kickball game etc...... The key is being consistent. Tell your parents and students the expectations for the week and stick to it!  Please don't Extend or Add-on time to your existing recess. Our kids cannot keep their emotions in check for more than 15-20.  When you keep students outside 20-35 minutes, I always see boys in the office. Please let me know how I can help.

Staff News!
Welcome Back Michelle Searcy!  We are so glad you are back home with us.  A huge thank you to Rachel Kiefer for holding the Special Education needs of our 3-5 kiddos in check.  We are glad you are staying around to cover for Harrison in a few weeks. During our last TCS Board meeting Cissie Harrington was approved as our new Registrar.  The thought of a front office without Nancy fills me with sadness. Having Cissie, someone who is already a part of the tribe, step into her position is a great comfort. Now, to find a PE assistant!

Don't forget your morning meetings!  They are just as important now as they were in August.

April 17 - 21, Our school will celebrate the diversity found here!.  We have around 10 parents (still adding) who will set up displays in the library for our first Multicultural Fair.  In addition, I'm asking that you please reach out to the parents of your minority students (heritage other than American) and invite them to share with your class.  Once they accept, please send me the Guest Form!  Thus far, this has been an amazing journey and I think this will be an impactful week that will grow and be a new Cahaba Tradition.
