Beginning this week and through the end of the year, I'll introduce a quote of the week during Morning Announcements and I'll put it in the Blog.  Please write it on your board or have a student write it, and consider re-visiting each morning.  This week's quote comes from Michael Jordan:  "You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them."

We have all faced challenges this year with the number of Zoom meetings that we have attended.  Lately, our IEP meetings, Eligibility meetings and/or SRIP meetings have been running into instructional time.  General Education teachers will need to excuse themselves from any meeting that runs into their instructional time.  I think we can make all of this work if we plan ahead of time.  1.  If the meeting is expected to go across your PE and Specials time, please ask someone to transition your students for you BEFORE the meeting starts. 2. If the meeting is expected to last longer than your planning time, it needs to be scheduled for after school. Of course if there are some kind of extenuating circumstances, I'll help you.  Please reach out if you'd like to discuss this further.

Our PTO delivered Cahaba Caravan Boxes for all of you Friday afternoon.  Four lucky friends will find shamrocks with a number on them.  Take your numbered shamrock to Barbara for a sweet gift!

Please keep Dr. Neill in your prayers.  Her mother passed away Friday night.

Last week for the Cahaba Shamrock hunt ! You may ONLY turn in THREE shamrocks this week.  So, keep your THREE best (highest numbers).  EX -  You already have 3, a 50, 100 and 75. You spy one for 500!  Take it and re-hide one of your others for someone else to have fun finding.  Hint....  You probably want to wait until late in the week to turn in your Shamrocks to Barbara.

Notes from the Leadership Team Meeting

1. Can the Reading Coaches help set up the Zoom meetings for the SRIP meetings.  This would really help us.  District wide, teachers are responsible for setting up these meetings.  I've heard that several have been re-scheduled due to conflicts with mine or Rosetta's schedule.  Before you cancel a meeting, that has a been a booger to set up, please see if I'm available to cover for Rosetta or vise versa.  Kelly also developed a letter we can use in place of Follow-Up SRIP meetings, assuming all parties agree.  Please reach out if you need support.  You really are doing a great job with the requirements of the Literacy Act and I know it's been very time consuming.

2. What are some ways we can encourage students to take responsibility for homework, AR goals, DreamBox etc......  We need to help them with accountability.  Our team had a great share time on this subject.  Rachel suggested a google doc in Teacher Resources where we could record "things that work"  Here's the Link:  Ideas to Motivate !    Positive Reinforcement is always the place to start.

3. Will things be back to "normal" next year?  Will we still follow Covid Guidelines? and be forced to stay in cohorts and not mix classes?  I don't think anyone can conclusively say YES to that question.  However, in all of our District planning for next year, we are planning on things being back to normal. All indications are pointing that way.

Your grade level representative will be asking you to share your thoughts concerning ideas for Award's Days and Field Days. May is just around the corner!
