Please keep extra masks in your classroom for students.  Donna has the supply

Keeping up with the demand for paper towels is challenging, but we are committed to making sure you have what you need. Remember, the blue shop towels should be used with the disinfectant spray to clean hard surfaces. If you can tear them in half, please consider doing that.  Also, make sure students don't use them to dry their hands.  The cheap ones work for that!

Please use Husky Paws at your duty post to reward student who are doing the right thing

You will receive a prompt to reset your password Tuesday morning.  Below are some password reset recommendations.
  • We strongly recommend that you hardwire to the network when changing your password.
  • Once your password is changed it can take up to 15 minutes for that password to sync to our email server.
  • Once your password is changed staff will need to update their passwords anywhere they are signed in (TCS Staff WiFi on their phones, email on their phones, etc)
  • We recommend using a complex password. Choose a password that you haven’t used before, that doesn’t contain your name, and doesn’t mimic something easily guessable (Welcome1, Welcome2, RollTide!, etc). Password requirements are as follows: Minimum of eight characters and contain three of the following four (uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number, or special character).

Prickett collaborated with the librarians at PES and MES to come up with a great plan for us to use during Black History Month.  I have a series of facts about African American heroes to use during announcements.  There are also lessons loaded in Schoology Library courses.  I'm looking forward to us learning together.

Questions/Discussions from the Leadership Team Meeting
Masks - Let's try to avoid sending students to the nurse to get masks.  Ask parents to send extras for the student to keep in their cubbies and also keep a box in your room.  Donna can get you some for your supply.

Do you have any information about when we will get vaccinated?  I don't have any additional information, but I know that Dr. Logan has been tirelessly working on a plan. I feel confident that our leadership is doing what they can to make the vaccine available to us as soon as possible.

Until recently, all students eating breakfast stayed in the cafeteria until 7:50.  Recently they have been dismissed as they finish eating to find a "dot" in the hall. The consensus of the group was to continue sending them as they finish eating.

When is Social Studies adoption?  This Spring

We are still feeling overwhelmed......can anything be taken off?  I feel really good about what we've been able to do to help different teams when things were getting really stressful.  I can't meet your individual needs, if I don't know about them.  PLEASE, come talk to me or send me an email and we'll brainstorm some options.  I love the fact that 60% of you have not taken advantage of a "helping hands" sub because you don't want to be away from your students.  But, the people who have taken advantage of this opportunity really feel better about their work load after having a 1/2 day to catch up and they are a better version of themselves for their students the next day. I appreciate every effort that you make every day to serve our students. Let me know if you need help.

Don't forget to upload evidence to your PLP.  If you have any questions,
Rosetta is available to help.  Here's the link !

Although we have been in and out of classrooms more this year than any previous year, we have failed to give you feedback through our walk through form.  You can expect this to start happening.  I know you are doing great things!  I am particularly interested in seeing the Enrichment Block and project based lessons that integrate content areas (social studies and science) with ELA.  Also, Data Binder and AR conferences! If you have a particular lesson you'd like for me to see, please let me know the date and time and I'll be there!  Walk throughs are usually 10-15 minutes.

Special Edition!

Valentine's Day parties will be February 12.  These will be carried out just like the Christmas parties with a few changes.

1. We didn't have significant problems with deliveries at Christmas, so you can choose the time for your party as long as it's on 2/12.  Please send the time to Nancy!

2. We will accept deliveries Feb. 10-12.

3. Students cannot serve themselves. Treats should be individually wrapped. Same rules as Christmas.

4. You may share a list of FIRST names for the purpose of creating Valentine Cards - or just the total number in your class.  No last namesCards must sit for 48 hours.  This means the students should bring them in no later than, Wednesday Feb. 10.  If they bring them in after 2/10, they cannot be distributed until Monday, 2/16.

Cyber Security

The first thing on our agenda for our meeting today is the roll-out of our District's Cyber Security Plan. This is an effort to keep our server system secure in the midst of frequent attempts to breach our system.  Other school systems nationwide are in damage control from cybersecurity issues, and we are hoping our proactive approaches that include training, will prove to be preventive.

Please read through the roll-out plan below.  We will discuss more and I'll answer questions this afternoon.

  • January 14, 2021 – KnowBe4 training emails will be sent at 2pm with a completed by date of January 25, 2021.  PLEASE DO THIS TODAY!

  • February 2, 2021 – Staff will receive a prompt to reset passwords upon login. The morning of February 2nd Technology will have a team member in the media center of each location to assist with any issues that may arise.

  • TBD – An unannounced phishing simulation will be sent to staff.

Also very important - Staff password reset recommendations (wait until prompted on 2/2 or you'll just have to reset twice!)

  • We recommend that you hardwire when changing your password,  but it can be accomplished via WiFi if you have logged into the machine before.
