Weekly Update ~

Please do not forward announcements or requests to your parents through your email distribution list or with a flyer unless Mrs. Tyner has pre-approved.  This includes information from the PTO, your room mom, yearbook committee, and our Specialist. 

It seems that towards the end of the school year parents become very sensitive to the amount of homework assigned (I'm sure this is because of sports commitments) and teachers are assigning more homework because we're in the crunch time!  Please remember the minimum requirement for DreamBox and Reading should consume almost all of our students' homework.  If additional work is given, it should be only once or twice a week and take only a few minutes to complete.  If your grade level would like to discuss this further, let me know. 

If you have prayer request that you would like included in this Blog, please let me know.  Our weekly prayer group would like to pray for you.





NOTICE: The May calendar is constantly being tweaked.  Please make sure you check it periodically.  If calendar changes are made within two weeks of the event I'll let you through email or Blog.

State Testing is just around the corner.  We'll have training soon, but I wanted to give you a heads up on Chromebook usage.  All Chromebooks on the back hall will be used for testing in grades 3-5, so they'll will be inaccessible April 13 - 20 to all students, with the exception of those (3-5) using them for the test. K and 1st will have access to their devices.  However, you will not be able to use them during the actual testing times.

Our Annual "Glow Down" will be held on April 20 -  We expect all staff to at least make a brief appearance at some point during the evening.  We have the most phenomenal PTO!  We want them to feel supported and 
appreciated. 










During Collaboration this week, April Smith will meet with grades 2-5 to answer questions and offer suggestions for best uses for Study Island.  Please bring your computer and questions.  

Please make sure your tudents have their Data Notebooks updated.  Wednesday - is the 1/2 point for AR! 








During April and May, we will be trying out a plan to give our general ed teachers one day a month of duty free lunch.  Each gen ed teacher has been partnered with another teacher.  Please get together with your "partners" and work out the date that you'd like to have your lunch free.

Emergency Early Dismissal

On any early dismissal day, staff may not leave campus until they are dismissed by the principal or designee. 

When the BOE calls for an Early Dismissal due to inclement weather - NO daycares pick up from our school.  Please make sure you know how all these children are going home before dismissal begins. 

Weekly Update ~

The CES Calendar is the "life-line" of our school.  We  keep the calendar current and filled with things that effect our school.  During this week, Mrs. Bramlett will be checking with each of you to make certain you have access to the  CES calendar.  She'll also be happy to help you load the calendar on your phone, at your request.  It is expected that you use the CES calendar in your planning and parent communication.  Beginning this week - events that have been on the calendar for weeks/months will not be repeated in this Blog.  Any changes will be noted.

Calendar Changes: Get Ahead of the Pack - moved from May 4th to May 10th   Fourth Grade Performance moved from March 19 to March 22 (weather concerns)

Ms Peggy must have your lunch orders for field trips at least a week in advance.  Please be diligent about helping her out with this request.














Collaboration will be during your specials time only this week.  Officer Bowen will not be outside to supervised students.  Your team will need to transport as you do on other days.  He has been asked by the TPD to make he doesn't have any regular assigned duties.

Mrs. Fortenberry will welcome an intern this week from Jacksonville State.  Please make Mr. Jerry Adair feel at home!

Kindergarten will be on a Field Trip Tuesday Morning to Children's Theater and most of the day (1:30) Thursday for "All Around Trussville".  Friday our third graders will be gone to McWane. 









Tuesday Night is Family Fitness Night at 6:00!





Please turn in any TAC questions to someone on the committee before their meeting scheduled for Thursday afternoon.







Our PST will meet Wednesday in the Collaboration Room.  PLEASE make sure you have filled out the google form.

So many of you did amazing work during collaboration last week with reading strategies.  This Tuesday, please continue that work and make sure you are prepared for our Wednesday PST meetings.

Staying positive and productive is hard some days. I know that we are the ones who control our mental outlook and in that pursuit this week, I found this great article  5 Creative Ways to Stay Grateful
