Update 8.19

Information you give too much it is - Yoda | Make a Meme

I know that the flow of information is fast and often, but here are some important tidbits from today.

If you have student chrome books that are in need of repair, there is a drop box close to Nancy and it's labeled. Billy will pick them up, fix them and get them back to students as quickly as possible.

I'm working on adding important dates to our calendar. We have several student assessments that will be completed over the next several months.  Instead of "testing windows", you will see just a deadline for completion.  We thought this would give you a little more choice and flexibility.

Remember to assign buddies to students who leave your room.  The buddy should be someone they sit very close to.  We want to avoid adding additional students to cohorts.

Your classrooms should not have visitors during the day.  This is includes other teachers and students (even your personal children) from other classrooms. If we can manage this, it will help control cross contamination.  When Rosetta and I come to your rooms, we plan to stay near the door.  Custodians should only come in when your students are not present. After students leave for the day is the time for guests! Tony will spray before your students come in the next morning.

Instructions for Grade book setup, grades 3-5, were sent out today.  This is just like last year. If you have doubts, please ask!

Good News about Recess - If students are actively playing a game or using playground equipment, it is not necessary for them to wear a mask. If they are sitting outside close to their friend, they should put the mask on.  Of course a mask should be worn to and from recess. I was happy to get the OK to extend this new procedure to you.  Our kids have been such troopers, but it is hot!  This includes outdoor PE.

Earlier we were told that exposure was based upon close contact, less than 6 feet, for more than 15 minutes at one time. Recently, that definition was changed.  The 15 minutes is cumulative during a day. Meaning, if you spent 10 minutes with a child at 10 am, pulled them for a small group at 12:30 that afternoon that lasted 10 min.  You are considered exposed. 10 + 10 is more than 15 minute.  Just be aware and be careful.

Some of you have received notes and emails from Nurse Donna that indicate a student is quarantined. In addition to communicating with you, she contacts the parents and Mrs. Nancy. If a child shows up before the indicated date of return, please notify the office and Nurse Donna immediately.

Tomorrow afternoon we will not have a staff meeting. The majority of you have expressed that you need time to work in Schoology, plan with your team and catch up.  We will have a full staff meeting next Thursday.

If a parent calls or sends you a note that says anything about fever, cough, stomach issues etc...... please let Nurse Donna know.  She is obligated to call the parent and investigate.

Please know how proud we are of you! Our students are happy and they feel safe. You have given them that priceless gift. There's nothing that we can't accomplish together!
