Happy First Day of Classroom to Cloud! We all appreciate your work on this enormous project.
Please keep sending us questions. I've asked Rosetta to start recording as many questions as she and I can remember and post them here in the BLOG. They'll be in a post labeled FAQ. Each time it's updated, we will add the new date to the Post Title.
Communicating with families and students individually is vital. Here are some suggestions. I would also suggest that you keep a simple log of the instances of communication you've had and/or attempts.
- through google classroom
- individual Zoom meetings
- phone calls
- snail mail - Barbara has stamps
- screencastify videos
Doing Morning Announcements from the front porch was really fun and a distraction. However, I really feel like we need to set an example for our new "Shelter in Place" decision from our Governor. So, I'll be doing some sort of morning announcement alone. It won't be nearly has fun or appealing as having you. But, it's the right thing to do.
To help with communication I'll be composing a weekly newsletter. I'll send it to you and ask that you send it out through distribution. I hope to have that to you no later than Tuesdays.
Excerpt from "Teaching in Extraordinary Times"
Stop and Breathe
"I want you to stop and take a deep breath. I don't know if you even realize how much stress you are under right now. You are in crisis mode and the instinct to fight is kicking in some serious adrenaline. You are planning lessons, tweeting, checking emails, checking Facebook, learning new websites and platforms to use with your students, attending webinars to learn new tips and tricks for remote learning, being a teacher to your own children, trying to find toilet paper ........ the list goes on and on. You need to STOP for just a second and breathe. Find a quiet place and close your eyes............Take care of yourself and pace yourself so that you can be there for your students and your family.
Next week will be great............ and if there are moments it's not? There's plenty of Grace and people to help.
