Reminders for the Tribe.......................
We Focus on Positive Student Behavior ~ Praise in public, Discipline in Private.
- students should never be asked to write their name or number in a public space
- Clip systems that include negative behaviors should not be at the front of your room.
- Consequences for inappropriate behavior should be private or at least be part of a choice
EX: asking a student to walk laps during recess -
this is fine, if the student chooses this as their
consequence. They should also be given an option that would be private. ie, writing an
apology that the parent signs or you calling the parent.
You could also involve parents in this decision. If the parent agrees in writing to walking laps or
silent lunch. It's fine with me too. Any behavior modification plan should be done w/ parental input.
Some of our students are humiliated by public correction. I know you would never choose to humiliate a child.
- Positive Reinforcement is ALWAYS the best choice.
- We, Osburn and Tyner, are always available to help brainstorm solutions. We actually enjoy helping you work through classroom management debacles.
Help me remind our students that we only use sidewalk chalk in uncovered areas.
Around 2:15 daily, our custodians will place large garbage cans in the hallways. We are hoping a classroom volunteer can empty your classroom garbage can. This small act will help our custodians immensely! Don't forget to wash hands and/or use hand sanitizer.
