TAC Q and A

The following are the questions received by TAC on 1/29/20 and answered 2/5/20
1. Do you think we could play soothing/classical music in the mornings while kids are
arriving and reading in the halls before school starts?
This is a nice idea!  Our intercom system doesn’t go into the halls, so it will be tricky to find a way to project the music. But, I’m willing to try.  If anyone has any ideas about this, please let me know.

2. What benefits will STEM Certification bring our school? (with help from April Smith and Ashley Waring) Getting a STEM Certification is a way to improve upon our school’s instructional practices and is a mark of distinction and excellence for a school.  STEM schools also receive national recognition for the STEM education provided to students at Cahaba.
In addition, following STEM Certification guidelines and standards forces us to be accountable for the quality of education we provide and motivates us to continually improve.  It provides us with a system to ensure that our school is on the right path in addressing issues identified by workforce development entities because we are addressing the problem of equity in STEM professions and implementing best practices in preparing our students for high demand STEM jobs.

3. Is there a way we can share more school happenings in “In the Loop”? For instance,
someone we could email with pictures and descriptions of class or school events we
would like spotlighted. Then, the liaison could forward the information to the
Administration to send to the board? I’m sure we can do a better job of sending thing to Mrs. Vernon.  I’ll get with our Leadership Team and we’ll make a plan.  Those minutes will be posted in the Cahaba Crew Blog as soon as possible.*

4. Is there a better timeline for Stache goals (easier for us as teachers to keep up with)?
For example, once a trimester or end on the last day of the month or something like that.
We feel the timing is hard to keep up with.  I agree that it’s been a little difficult.  Our goal was to recognize every class at least once.  To do that we had to have a goal every 6 weeks.  When the Leadership Team meets on the question above, we’ll discuss this too.  I’ll have answers in the Blog soon.*

*Leadership Team will meet 2/11 to address these questions
