Our Collaboration days have been so important and useful this year.  I anticipate this to continue.  Tomorrow or the next Tuesday we meet, I'd like to try allowing the students to transition on their own..   ONLY ON TUESDAYS!  I'm asking that all specialists stand in the hallway out side their doors.  Mrs. Shepherd will patrol the front hall and Officer Bowen will watch between the building and the gym.  This may not work, but I want to try it.

Guidelines for Visitors
- Lunch Guest - All lunch guest much check-in with the office and present their ID.  They will be given a sticker for the lunchroom with their name.  There is a PARENT TABLE ---  Parents may sit at this table with their child.  They can't take friends with them.
They can't sit at your table.  You don't need a visitor's form for lunch guest.
- Conferences and helpers during your planning:  These visitors do not need a Visitors Form.  However, you MUST notify Mrs. Nancy that they are coming,
or they will not be allowed to leave the office. They will also need to present
their ID and they will receive a visitors pass.
- Guest during instructional time:  We should only have have guest during instructional time if they are contributing to instruction and enhancing the curriculum.
You must have an approved Visitor Form for them to be welcomed.
Please make sure you put those in Mrs. Tyner's box at least 24 hours
prior to the guest(s) coming. They will also present their ID and receive a visitor's sticker.

My thoughts on time out/missing recess...........

- Students should not routinely be assigned time out.  It should be reserved for significant issues.
- Students should not miss recess to finish classwork. If not completing work is a chronic problem we need to make a plan.  We'll be happy to help.
- Time Out is still an option at Cahaba.  However, we expect that several other  strategies be  used prior to choosing time out.
- Time Out should not exceed more than 1 minute for each year of the child's age and should always be followed up with a student teacher conference and/or reflection activity.
- If a students is routinely being redirected for the same behavior and we are choosing the same consequence/response, it is imperative that a behavior plan be developed to modify the behavior.  Our goal is modification.
- Cahaba will establish an environment based on positive reinforcement and expect high relationship capacity between all stakeholders.
- Please google Time-In vs Time Out....  These examples are all from a parental perspective, but the general concept is still applicable.
Let me know if you'd like to have a conversation about these ideas.

PLP conferences will start the end of this month.  Please start working on your PLP.  Our school-wide PLP is
RIGOR and RELEVANCE.
