While some may not be sick at all, some are sick or they are at home with parents/siblings who are sick.  Please continue to extend grace to these students in regards to work completion.  Please let me of any extenuating circumstances.

Q and A and discussion notes from the Leadership Team

1. What about Scantron?  I don't plan to tie Wall of Fame to Scantron this year.  So, Scantron testing will be optional.  I think we need to take another look at the possibility closer to ACAP.  If it can give us information to better prepare students for testing, we may take it in grades 3-5.  Or, we may have decided that SuccessMaker can give us that information.

2. What are the Milestones for Wall of Fame?

1. Millionaire
2. 90% or higher on Reading Fluency/AIMSweb
3. 90% or higher on Math Fluency/AIMSweb
4. 40 or more hours on Reading SuccessMaker
5. 40 or more hours on Math SuccessMaker    Students will be named to the Wall of Fame by meeting at least 2 of the 5 Milestones.

Statement about WOF:  Wall of Fame is the Highest recognition of Academic Excellence and Effort at Cahaba
The purpose for the WOF.....

1. Teach students to set lofty goals.  The vast majority of K and 1 students should see WOF as a goal for the future. I wouldn't expect for than 20% to make the Wall.  2 and 3 will have 50% or more make it and 4/5 should/could have 85% or more make it.
2. Emphasize the importance of working hard on AIMS assessments - taking the assessment seriously.
3. Emphasize the importance of commitment to a goal and work ethic. (Millionaire, SuccessMaker)

3. The PTO would like a wish list.  When they host fundraisers, they like to say what the money will go towards.  The leadership representatives will talk to their teams and submit any other ideas.  The idea of a poster making machine and new laminator were discussed.  We've also tossed around the idea of an outdoor sound system or new radios to help with dismissal.

4. We talked about math homework and keeping it to a minimal. Then, this week we had SuccessMaker training.  SuccessMaker should be used for Math homework.

5. Last year, comments were made concerning the Grace Group and our "plan".  The Grace Group will meet this week and formulate a new plan.  If you have input, please talk to one of the members of the team.  Kylie Collins, Stephanie Young, Kristy Windham, Jami Mills and Taylor Harrison

6. We talked about the bathrooms and keeping them assigned to specific grade levels/teachers. There is an overload of 9 classes using the front bathroom.  It was suggested that K and 1 consider using the gym bathrooms occasionally and K/1 are permitted to use the 2nd grade bathroom, if they are on the back hall for STEM or Music.
